Imran brings over 20 years of experience within Tax across the UK, EU, and GCC regions.
Prior to joining Grant Thornton UAE, Imran was a Senior Tax Director at a Big 4 firm in the Middle East, where he led the real estate and logistics sectors in the UAE and led VAT implementation for clients in Oman.
His extensive GCC VAT experience also includes involvement in several regional tax authority engagements. Imran supports clients to navigate the evolving tax landscape in the UAE, including support with tax authority audits and disputes, complex VAT advisory and compliance, industry focussed health-checks and supporting clients to manage the interaction of VAT and the newly introduced direct taxes.
Prior to moving to the GCC, Imran spent 10 years at Big 4 firm in the UK providing tax consulting services, and formerly was the Head of Indirect Tax UK&I at Sodexo, where he led indirect tax strategies and operations for over four years. His tax experience also includes roles with HM Revenue & Customs, and financial services and consulting experience with Capco and Citibank.
